Thanks to One UI 5 and one of the Samsung Galaxy S22’s top apps, Good Lock, the camera is poised to receive some significant improvements.
Users of the Samsung Galaxy S22 are now receiving Android 13 from Samsung, and while One UI 5 is expected to deliver a number of upgrades, one of our favourites will be the adjustments Good Lock will be able to make to your smartphone’s camera. And it could even contribute to the Galaxy S22 becoming one of the greatest photography phones available.
As reported by Android Central(opens in new tab), S22 devices running One UI 5 will be able to open their Good Lock app and download the new Camera Assistant. This information was obtained via Samsung’s Korean community forum(opens in new tab). With this add-on, using the built-in camera on your phone will be lot easier.
Auto lens change, Auto HDR, and Auto softening are the first improvements. When Auto lens switching is enabled, your smartphone will be able to switch between its camera lenses dependent on the zoom level. The hair and face of your subject will be softened by auto softening, and auto HDR will help to ensure that your photographs look well-expressed even in areas with strong backlighting.
Other enhancements the Camera Assistant can make include the ability to begin shooting a video while in Photo mode by pressing and holding the record button, as well as the capacity to speed up the shutter speed of the wide-angle lens to better capture moving things.Even the time the camera waits before taking a picture and the number of photos it takes once the timer goes off can be adjusted.
You must have the app loaded and be using a Samsung smartphone with One UI 5—currently just the Samsung Galaxy S22, Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus, and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra—to test these and the other improvements that Good Lock and its Camera Assistant will provide.
How to download Good Lock
Contrary to what its name might imply, Good Lock is a tool that enables customers to customise the best Samsung phones, not some additional security measure.
Even though it isn’t the most well-known app available, it is one of the best apps you can download to your Galaxy smartphone. However, you’ll first need to search for it.
On your Samsung smartphone, Good Lock is not preinstalled; instead, you must first access the Galaxy Store (opens in new tab) (not the Google Play Store) and install it. You need to find the Good Lock programme from Good Lock Labs; it is free to download and has an icon similar to the one shown below.
The Good Lock logo appears to be four perfectly aligned puzzle pieces.

After downloading it, launch Good Lock to gain access to all of its customization options. With the help of Good Lock’s numerous assistants, you can modify the functionality of programmes like your Camera app as well as the appearance and audio of your Samsung Galaxy smartphone.
There are too many adjustments to list here, but our recommendation is to at least give each one a try if it seems promising. Some of them you’ll hate and want to turn off right away, while other settings can make using your phone much more enjoyable.
