A young Assamese man who was detained in Bengaluru on suspicion of having ties to the terrorist group Akhtar Hussain Lashkar has been charged under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including one for waging war against the Indian government.
According to agency sources, the Central Crime Branch of Bengaluru has apprehended a guy and his accomplices for questioning after suspecting him of having ties to various terrorist organizations.
Assamese native Akhtar Hussain Lashkar was detained on Sunday, July 24, from a third-floor apartment in a multi-story building in Tilak Nagar, where he was residing with a few food delivery workers, according to the sources. In addition to Hussain, four other people were held.
He has been charged with violating several provisions of the Indian Penal Code, including one that deals with waging war against the Indian government. According to a source, “there was a tip from the central agencies, which led to the trap being set and him being captured.”
Lashkar had escaped north India, according to the CCB sources, and was hiding out in the city. They stated that questions are being asked and that further information may be revealed.
Sources claim that after receiving a tip about the existence of the suspected terrorist, detectives from the Central Crime Branch’s (CCB) Special Wing, Internal Security Division (ISD), and Intelligence Wing conducted a raid on a home. More than 30 people made up the squads.
The Bengaluru police have not yet released a formal comment about the incident. Five people are being questioned, according to police sources, and a FIR has been filed at the Tilak Nagar police station.
Araga Jnanendra, the home minister for Karnataka, praised the state police for their actions and stated that local Lashkar allies are now being interrogated.
The police claim that Hussain virtually communicated with international terror organizations on Facebook and Telegram. The groups then allegedly got in touch with Hussain, who was then intending to travel to Kashmir and meet up with Al Qaeda members, according to the authorities.
