In the coming years, TVS Electric Scooter Motor Company plans to increase the range of EVs it offers. For the current fiscal year, the company intends to invest Rs 1,000 crore. The money would be utilized to expand production capabilities and produce EV cars. By the end of 2022, the goal is to double the production capacity of electric vehicles to 25,000 units per month, and the following year, to 50,000 units per month TVS would increase its annual production capacity to 5–6 lakh units with this proposal.
TVS Motor’s managing director, Sudharshan Venu, stated in an interview with an online media outlet that the company aims to capture 35% of the three-wheeler industry and 30% of the electric scooter market by 2025. According to reports, the company just unveiled the upgraded iQube electric scooter and has a “strong order backlog.” TVS seeks to shorten its waiting time with its manufacturing and network development plan. Additionally, he disclosed that the business will introduce a new EV in the second half of 2022.
There is currently no official information available regarding the new TVS electric scooter. We speculate that it might be the finalized form of the 2018 Auto Expo-debuted TVS Creon electric scooter concept. The idea has a 12kW electric motor and three lithium-ion batteries.
It promises to accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h in 5.1 seconds and have an 80 km range. The electric scooter has a diamond-cut alloy perimeter frame and TVS Remora Tyres. It also has regenerative braking, cloud connectivity, park help, geofencing, a TFT screen, a smartphone charger, under-seat storage, and safety/anti-theft features.
In addition, BMW Motorrad and TVS Motor Company are working together to develop new platforms and cutting-edge technologies, such as electric vehicles. According to rumors, the business is developing 6 new electric vehicles for India. The automaker, which is located in Chennai, also has many new ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicles in the works for the domestic market.
