With the Polestar 4 EV, Polestar will introduce ADAS technology for hands-free, eyes-off driving. The relationship between Polestar and Mobileye has culminated in the development of ADAS technology. Soon, the new Polestar SUV coupe will go on sale with the option of autonomous driving. The unique Chauffeur platform ADAS is owned by Mobileye.
Over 150 million automobiles around the world have received ADAS technology from Mobileye, an autonomous vehicle solutions provider. Since its founding in 1999, the business has a lengthy history of offering ADAS and autonomous car technology. It has previously formed collaborations with Tesla, BMW, and several other major players in the sector. It and Porsche recently signed a contract for the integration of SuperVision technology in Porsche vehicles. The Chauffeur platform, developed by Polestar and Mobileye, will be more advanced than SuperVision.
Mobileye will upgrade the Polestar 4 EV with autonomous technologies as a result of the agreement. Scaling up the technology to support other Polestar cars will be one of the objectives. Drivers will be able to enjoy hands-off, eyes-off, point-to-point autonomous driving on highways thanks to the Mobileye Chauffeur. Other specified environments will be compatible with eyes-on automatic driving. The platform, which will be created and used by ECARX, includes the EyeQ systems-on-chip, Mobileye Roadbook maps driven by REM, a 360-degree camera system, and more.
The Mobileye Chauffeur, according to Mobileye’s CEO Amnon Shashua, will give customers a safer and easier way to enjoy autonomous vehicles as the next big thing in personal transportation. According to Professor Shashua, the Chauffeur represents the apex of the company’s two-decade-long effort to apply AI to millions of automobiles globally. The Polestar 4 will launch with an ADAS that is based on SuperVision and has the majority of the promised capability. When it debuts, the Mobileye Chauffeur will provide the EyeQ6 system-on-chip with cutting-edge radar and LiDAR sensors. The Polestar 4 SUV coupe has already berthed in China and will debut on the world market in 2024.
