The sales totals for September 2022 have been published by Tata Motors. The Indian automaker sold 47,864 passenger vehicles in total last month, representing an increase of 85% year over year.
Tata sold 43,999 internal combustion engine (ICE) automobiles in addition to 3,655 electric vehicles (Tata Nexon EV and Tata Tigor EV). When compared to sales made during the same period last year, the brand saw an increase of 85% with a total of 47,654 automobiles sold in the previous month.
In other news, Tata Motors introduced two new vehicles in the month prior. The first one is the Punch micro-Camo SUV’s edition, which has a starting price of Rs 6.85 lakh (ex-showroom).
Additionally, the Indian carmaker introduced the Tata Tiago EV at an initial price of Rs. 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom). There are four different variations of the electric hatchback, each with two battery packs.
The PV industry experienced robust demand during Q2 FY23, driven by the holiday season and new releases, according to Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. SUV sales made up a generous 66% of the quarterly PV sales, driven by record-breaking sales of Nexon and Punch. The company once again reported record-breaking sales of 11,522 units of electric vehicles in Q2 FY23, representing an increase of 326% over Q2 FY22.
