I’m thrilled to present the Pova 5 Pro 5G, the newest smartphone from TECNO, today. The Pova series is renowned for its stylish design and emphasis on gaming performance. In a sense, it’s one of the phones we’re most looking forward to in 2023.
So how would a popular smartphone series aimed at young people and gamers fare? You’ll probably learn more here, then!
Unboxing
Packaging-wise, it’s still in the same magnificent triangular box as the Pova 5. The primary colours are blue and white, and the texture on the front is highlighted by a coil pattern, giving off a decidedly techy vibe. At first glance, the gold Hi-res Audio certification insignia caught my attention, which made me want to hear how the Pova 5 Pro will sound.
When the little box is opened, the contents include the phone, a protective case, a Type-c cable, a charger that can deliver up to 68 watts of power, the wired earbuds, the user manual, and the warranty card. It is important to note that the earphones feature a microphone, which has been absent for a while. However, I must admit that it is really gamer friendly.
Design
I received both the Silver Fantasy and the Dark Illusion colour options for the phone. Personally, I’d choose the Dark illusion; it’s important to note, though, that the colour is actually closer to the dark blue seen on the box. The phone stands apart from other devices in its pricing range because to its really nice rear design.
On the back, there are four LED strips. A triangle is created when three of them are joined to one another. The phone has a unique design that makes it appear futuristic and full of geometric beauty. A coil-style design that adds a mechanical texture is also present.
It resembles a mecha from the future with all these smart additions, such as the LED straps, the coil, and some metal-style designs. The one drawback is how quickly fingerprints gather on the Dark Illusion variant’s back. Overall, I’m really impressed with the Pova 5 Pro’s outside appearance and, of course, I find it to be very appealing. I was unable to discover any other companies that took the design of the phone as seriously for the same pricing. And The Pova 5 Pro’s look might still stand out when compared to other high-end gaming smartphones.
Although the Pova 5 pro is not exceptionally slim, I still like using it because its 214g weight is manageable. It is extremely affordable for a gaming device with a large 6.78-inch screen. Additionally, the frame is incredibly smooth and does not obstruct the edge swipe. Because of the secure hold, the phone feels pretty robust in my hand.
Due to the Pova 5 Pro’s compatibility for multiple SIM cards and SD storage extension, you can load two SIM cards while expanding the local storage. For gamers, the 3.5mm headphone connection is unquestionably a plus, as wired headphones are almost always the preferable choice because they have lower latency than Bluetooth headsets. Charger & Battery
I’d say the Pova 5 Pro has one of the greatest options for battery and charging. On a low-cost phone, the combination of a 5000mAh battery with 68-watt rapid charging is quite appealing. Gaming Achievements
The Dimensity 6080 5G soc and 120Hz display of the Pova 5 Pro make for excellent performance and gaming in a low-cost phone. The Pova 5 pro even supports Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s ultimate mode at 120 frames per second. The gaming experience was incredibly fluid and the frame rate didn’t decrease in the furious chaotic battles, which already beyond my expectations for such a budget phone. In 20 minutes of super mode games, it hit an average of 75 frames per second. It also performed admirably in the game Free Fire, which maintained a frame rate of 60 throughout. The 6nm 6080 chipset from TSMC performs exceptionally well thermally in games. Even After 20 minutes of gameplay in this scorching summer, the phone’s hottest spot only reached 40°C. This is incredible.
Software
Additionally, Pova 5 Pro put a lot of effort into the software, making it simple to move between various performance settings and instantly access elements in the game space. It’s also quite handy to click on the Bypass Charge button here. It is also possible to enable the Message Barrage notification in the Game Space, which displays all WhatsApp and Messenger messages as barrages. You won’t miss any crucial messages even when playing a demanding game. The LED light on the phone’s rear panel has also been developed to serve a variety of purposes, like serving as a message reminder, an ambient light source while playing music, and even a connection to PUBG mobile for when I am murdering other players. Camera
Returning to the camera system, a gaming phone with a 50MP sensor has an additional benefit. It takes fairly good pictures in good lighting with good colours. The Beauty cam more than met my expectations for me.
It’s Tecno’s area of expertise currently, and we are pleased to note that the algorithms were maintained on the Pova 5 Pro. There are the ideal number of beauty effects rather than any excessive ones. It’s a little unfortunate that there isn’t 4K video recording for video. Overall though, the Pova 5 Pro cameras are sufficient for daily recording and sharing at this price.
Verdict
A really distinctive mid-range phone is the Pova 5 Pro. Impressive aspects include the design, gaming performance, and battery system. This phone is worth looking into if you enjoy gaming and unique design. Most importantly, we don’t need to spend too much money on expensive premium gaming models to enjoy some of the gaming capabilities. Pova 5 Pro is a new option that is available.
