Review Of The Moto G73 5G: A Decently Clean User Interface, But What About The Rest?

    Moto G73 5G

Although the Moto G73 5G from Motorola is a capable smartphone with a focus on performance, can it compete with the challenging market?

Smartphone manufacturers now even target the sub-Rs. 20000 market due to the ever-growing 5G canvas. These companies offer the newest technology at competitive costs, and some of them are Realme, Xiaomi, Samsung, iQOO, and Poco. To prevent its competitors from having it all to themselves, the Moto G73 5G has just entered this competitive market. The latest MediaTek Dimensity 930 chipset, 5000mAh battery, and 13 5G bands are included in the phone’s price of Rs. 18,999. Here is my assessment of the Moto G73’s capabilities after using it for two weeks.

    Model: Moto G73 5G

Notably, the Moto G73 5G has a luxurious feel compared to many other budget-friendly Motorola products, and this is because of its PMMA material, which is actually plastic but looks like glass. Due to its 181g weight and curved edges, it feels more luxurious and is more comfortable. However, the rear panel’s soft-matte surface is dust and smudge-friendly, which forces you to utilise the phone cover that is packaged with your phone. In general, the design is excellent for individuals who prefer a traditional and minimalist style (exactly like any other Motorola phone!) In addition to this, the Moto G73 5G offers a 3.5mm audio connection, which is uncommon. It acquires an IP52 sand and stereo speakers, and water resistance certification.

    Display Moto G73 5G

The Moto G73 5G has a 6.5-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display with a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz. Motorola appears to have sacrificed an AMOLED display in order to integrate 5G connectivity in the Moto G73. In the face of fierce competition from Realme, Samsung, iQOO, and Xiaomi, the lack of an AMOLED display appears to be a major oversight. Having said that, the display performs admirably even in direct sunlight. It has a selfie camera with a punch-hole and tiny bezels on the sides, while the bottom bezels are slightly bigger.

Performance of the Moto G73 5G

    Moto G73 5G

The Moto G73 is powered by the most recent MediaTek Dimensity 930 chipset. The device is speedy when launching apps and playing graphically demanding games with moderate settings, such as Asphalt 9 and Call of Duty: Mobile. Furthermore, multitasking on the phone is adequate, but there are some tiny stutters here and there. However, after around 30 minutes of gaming, the tablet experienced mild sluggishness and heated up slightly.

Talking about the software, Motorola has impressed us with its near to Stock Android UI, and minimal pre-installed apps. The Moto G73 comes with Android 13 out of the box with Moto’s MyUX UI skin on top of it. In front of the bloatware-loaded smartphones from iQOO, Realme, and Oppo, this budget offering from Motorola seems like a breath of fresh air, which impressed us greatly. Plus, an ample amount of customisation options, animations, and wallpaper add to the overall experience.

The smartphone has a 3.5mm audio port and stereo speakers that produce loud and clear sound, with slight distortion at maximum volume. With the introduction of 5G in India, I was able to enjoy better mobile data rates of over 600mbps with my Airtel 5G SIM, as well as a flawless calling experience with the Moto G73, which features 13 5G bands. Motorola has taken security and privacy extremely seriously with the Moto G73 5G. The Moto Secure app provides the convenience of having all privacy and security controls in one place. This software, which acts as a central control centre, allows you to simply access the privacy dashboard, manage app permissions, and change privacy settings without having to navigate through different settings. Furthermore, the secure folder feature allows you to lock apps, change app icons, and enjoy a variety of other privacy-related features. It’s fascinating to see Motorola putting so much emphasis on security, despite the fact that the Moto G73 5G is a low-cost phone.

Cameras on the Moto G73 5G

    Moto G73 5G

The Moto G73 5G features a dual camera arrangement that includes a 50MP primary lens with OIS, an 8MP wide-angle lens, and a 16MP front camera. If you are a serious photographer, you should look at other choices! Photos taken using a primary camera in daytime are adequate but lack colour fidelity. Unfortunately, portrait photography did not meet my expectations! It lacks edge detection and the photographs have softness. When you expose the phone to low-light circumstances, the camera begins to struggle.

However, the 8MP ultra-wide camera, which also functions as a macro lens, captures detailed and well-lit images. Its front camera with a 16MP lens is adequate for casual shots, however it does distort colours to some amount. To say the least, the videos are unimpressive.

    5G Moto G73 Battery
The Moto G73 has an outstanding battery life of about 1.5 days on a single full charge, readily allowing casual day-to-day activities such as an hour of calling, social media, internet surfing, and music listening. The smartphone has 30W charging support, allowing it to recharge from 10% to 100% in 1 hour and 10 minutes. Nonetheless, it is worth noting that the Moto G73 lags behind numerous low-cost smartphones in terms of charging speed. Smartphones like the Vivo T1, iQOO Z7, Redmi Note 11 Pro, and others in this category perform well.

    Verdict

    Moto G73 5G

The Moto G73 5G is perfectly adequate for day-to-day work and casual gaming. However, the long battery life is a bonus. It also offers two additional advantages: 5G connectivity and a simple user interface. Of then, you could say the same thing about most Motorola phones in the affordable class. In essence, the Moto G73 5G sacrifices a good display and a rich photographic experience, particularly in low-light circumstances, and while the battery is adequate, it suffers from delayed charging.

As a result, if the pricing is right for you and you aren’t too picky about the camera, don’t play a lot of games, want a clean UI experience, adequate performance for regular tasks, a secure experience, and a 5G smartphone, this is the phone for you.Afterward, you can choose the Moto G73. However, you should also consider the competing products in the same market, such as the Redmi Note 12, Poco M5, and iQOO Z7.
