The V4 Granturismo engine from Bologna is the largest update for the power cruiser, and Ducati has unveiled the new Diavel V4. Ducati has also significantly altered the Diavel’s design and chassis for 2023, so that’s not all. We’ll look at what those are now.
Ducati Diavel V4: India launch and price
Although Ducati hasn’t yet announced the Diavel V4’s debut in the United States, we can anticipate the new and improved power cruiser to reach our shores in due course. When it does, anticipate it to be considerably more expensive than the present Diavel 1260, which has a selling price of Rs 20.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
Ducati Diavel V4: design and features
The new V4 is undeniably a Diavel in terms of design. A single-sided swingarm, a scooped seat with a slim tail section, a huge rear tyre with a hugger, and large air vents on either side of the headlamp are still present. But for this new model, the Italian company has made some important adjustments.
The 2023 Diavel gets a new LED headlight with C-shaped LED DRLs, two-tone alloy wheels with a diamond cut design, and an array of miniature LEDs that imitate the C-shaped pattern of the front light’s DRLs in the rear light. Ducati has also given this motorcycle four exhaust tips to further up the “wow” factor.
A 5.0-inch TFT display with Bluetooth, dynamic indicators, cruise control, launch control, a six-axis IMU, cornering ABS, traction control, and wheelie control are among the features of the 2023 Ducati Diavel V4. There will be two colour options for the Ducati Diavel V4: Ducati Red and Thrilling Black.
Ducati Diavel V4: powertrain
Ducati replaced the 1,262cc, 159hp V-twin engine from the previous Diavel 1260 with the Granturismo V4 engine from the Multistrada V4 for this new model. The new Diavel’s 1,158cc liquid-cooled V4 engine produces 126Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm and 168 horsepower at 10,750 rpm. It’s interesting that the V4 engine has a cylinder deactivation mechanism that turns off the back two cylinders when necessary to save gasoline and prevent overheating. A 6-speed transmission with a bi-directional quickshifter is mated to the engine.
In addition, the Diavel V4 has four ride modes, including Sport, Touring, Urban, and a new Wet mode. The parameters for the power output, engine response, and intervention levels vary depending on the ride mode .The ride modes use various settings for the bike’s sophisticated computerised rider aids, including power output, engine responsiveness, and intervention levels.
Ducati Diavel V4: underpinnings
Despite switching from two to four cylinders, the Diavel has lost 13kg in weight (211kg dry). And the chassis, which helps save 8kg, is a significant component of it. Ducati has given the new Diavel V4 an aluminium monocoque structure that is directly connected to the cylinder heads in place of the steel trellis frame of the outgoing Diavel. However, the swingarm is still made of a single-sided cast aluminium, while the rear subframe is still a steel trellis unit.
A 50mm USD fork up front and a monoshock at the back, both fully adjustable, are in charge of the suspension. The travel is 15mm longer than the Diavel 1260, measuring 120mm up front and 145mm down back. The handlebar has also been moved 20mm closer to the rider for more comfortable ergonomics, and the Diavel V4’s seat height is 790mm.
Brembo Stylema four-piston callipers and 330mm discs are used in the front brakes, while a two-piston calliper and a single 265mm disc are used in the back. The five-spoke cast alloy wheels are fitted with Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres in the meantime.
