WhatsApp appears to be down. The programme has been used by millions of users, yet when messages are attempted to be sent, all that is received is a clock indicator next to the message.
WhatsApp appears to be unable to send apps as of Tuesday, October 25, while users can still log in and view already sent messages.
The WhatsApp team at Meta is working to figure out what’s going on, so we’ve started a live blog to keep you updated on all the latest developments.

The number of monthly WhatsApp users worldwide is somewhere between two and three billion.
It looks that none of them can send WhatsApp messages as of right moment.

The mobile WhatsApp app is now in the state shown in the screenshot above, with messages just waiting to be sent.
Don’t worry if you’ve observed the same thing; WhatsApp is having problems, not you.
I am concerned that when this problem is rectified, a HUGE number of messages will be sent out of nowhere. That might put more pressure on WhatsApp’s servers.
When I attempt to make a video call, the following error message appears. There most certainly is a server issue on WhatsApp’s end.

WhatsApp video calls are not working either. I just tried it, and after a short while the call ends with a message advising me to check my internet connection because the video call failed. Appreciate WhatsApp.

Here is what we see when utilising WhatsApp’s web interface in a browser. You can see that we are unable to access WhatsApp’s servers and that messages are not being sent.
Now that some people are experiencing problems sending messages, WhatsApp’s parent firm Meta has responded, saying (according to Reuters): “We’re aware of this and working to get WhatsApp back up and running for everyone as soon as possible.”

I checked the official WhatsApp Twitter account(opens in new tab), but it hasn’t yet said anything about the issue. However, WhatsApp is currently trending in the United Kingdom, indicating that this is obviously a widespread problem.

Since roughly 9am BST (4am ET, 1am PT) on Tuesday, October 25, more individuals have been reporting problems with WhatsApp, according to the Downdetector website (opens in new tab).
Sending messages has been a difficulty for myself and other TechRadar staff members, and it’s the most frequent problem.

Welcome to our live blog on WhatsApp being down. I tried sending a message myself after hearing multiple reports about WhatsApp being down, and sure enough, it won’t send. Instead, I get a clock symbol next to the message, indicating that the WhatsApp servers are down.
