It was starting to seem as though all the major 2022 flagship phones had already debuted, but the Motorola Razz 2022 is the newest model to hit the market. Although this isn’t a brand-new phone—China received it back in August—it is now making its way to other countries, including the UK.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is directly competed with by this foldable clamshell phone, which has a beginning price of ₹ 90411.17 (₹ 88199.99/ ₹139.89). However, the Z Flip 4 is initially priced at ₹82045.68/₹122.99
What do you get in return for the cash? The Motorola Razr 2022 includes a 6.7-inch foldable main screen with a resolution of 2400 x 1800 and a refresh rate of 144 Hz, as well as a 2.7-inch secondary screen with a resolution of 800 x 573 and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. They are both OLED displays.
It has 256GB of storage and an extremely powerful Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 CPU with 8GB of RAM (up to 12GB RAM and 512GB of storage is available on the Chinese model). The Razr 2022’s battery has a 3,500mAh capacity and charges at 30W. It runs Android 12 out of the box with the promise of two OS updates, which puts it slightly behind the times given that Android 13 is already available.
A feature missing from previous Razr models is now present on the back: two cameras. There is a large 50MP f/1.8 main sensor and a 13MP f/2.2 ultra-wide/macro camera. Additionally, a 32MP selfie camera with an 8MP preset resolution has been integrated into the main display.
In addition, the phone includes 5G, twin stereo speakers that enable Dolby Atmos, a fingerprint scanner, and an IP52 rating, which isn’t very water resistant but outperforms Samsung in verified protection against dust. It is covered in glass and metal and is available in satin black.
Overall, those are some quite high-end specifications, and UK customers will soon be able to purchase the Motorola Razr 2022 from Amazon and John Lewis if they like the sound of it. Other regions of Europe are also getting the phone, but it’s still unclear whether it will be available in the US or Australia.
Comparison to the Galaxy Z Flip 4 is made.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is the main competitor to the Motorola Razr 2022, and as we’ve already mentioned, it’s slightly more expensive, at least in the UK. The Razr’s pricing hasn’t been revealed for most other places.
The Z Flip 4 does have several features that make the extra cost worthwhile, including significantly improved water resistance, a little larger 3,700mAh battery, and a main screen with a marginally higher quality.
However, it also features a smaller 1.9-inch secondary screen, a lower 120Hz refresh rate on the primary display, fewer megapixels in its cameras, slower 25W charging, and otherwise similar specifications.
Therefore, Motorola has created a very competitive phone here, although it is yet unknown how it will compare in actual use. However, this might very well be a contender for our list of the best foldable phones.
