With Nexon EV Prime, Nexon EV Max, and Tigor EV, Tata Motors presently has the market share for all 4W EVs at 84.86% in August 2022. Tata is currently unmatched and is likely to remain so until Mahindra XUV400 is introduced in India. But what contribution does the XUV400 make? Can it compete with Nexon EV given its power? XUV400—is it an underdog? Let’s examine what the statistics have to say. The task at hand for the XUV400 to unseat the reigning champion is challenging. We say this because the Nexon EV is the result of numerous elements coming together to form one electric vehicle.
Nexon EV is made up of features, positive attributes, design, consumer perception, a sense of familiarity, and many other elements. But the Mahindra XUV400 is also not a slouch. XUV400 Vs Nexon EV
It is 4.2m long, as well as broader, higher, and having a 2,600mm longer wheelbase. On the other hand, the Nexon EV boot is equivalent to the XUV400 due to its shorter wheelbase. The four regen controls on the Nexon EV Max are operated independently of the three driving modes. The charging rates for the XUV400 and Nexon EV Max are comparable. But XUV400 asserts that charging takes less time. However, both SUVs receive the same CCS2 charging socket.
Features and Cost
The one area where Mahindra might have improved the XUV400 was in features. Even claiming that a Tata product has more features than a contemporary Mahindra feels a little strange. We say this because Mahindra has a history of packing their cars full of practical amenities ever since the XUV500 era. But when all the features are combined, Nexon EV Max has more.
In fact, certain XUV300 amenities, such dual-zone climate control, appear to have been reduced in the XUV400. Front ventilated seats, rear AC vents, a digital circular display housed inside the gear selector, an air purifier, a wireless phone charger, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, an electronic parking brake, and a few other features are added to the Nexon EV Max. These are all things the XUV400 is lacking.
