On October 17 at the 2022 Paris Motor Show, the venerable Renault 4 hatchback will make a comeback, this time as an electric vehicle that appears to be a sub-compact SUV. The teaser image depicts a high-riding car with a roof box, hefty tyres, an SUV-like posture, and a triangular-shaped rear window.
The boxy lines of the original 4 are anticipated to be carried over into the concept car, although clearly with the most recent Renault aesthetic cues. The French automaker has previously stated that as part of Renault’s plans for its upcoming models, the 4 would return alongside the 5 electric hatchback. We anticipate that the concept car will pay homage to the 4’s extensive rallying legacy by being outfitted similarly.
The finished product, which should be available by the end of the decade, will resemble a sub-compact SUV and have the same dimensions as the original model. To put this into context, the Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Renault 4 have very comparable proportions throughout their respective production runs.
- Reborn as a tiny SUV concept car is anticipated
- From 1961 through 1994, the original was sold.
