Although AMD Ryzen 7000 Has Just Recently Launched Zen 5 CPUs Have Already Been Seen

Even though the new AMD Ryzen 7000 CPUs have only been available for a week, AMD’s next-generation Zen 5 processors have already been detected, or at least the ground is being laid for them.

According to VideoCardz(opens in new tab), HWiNFO, a PC hardware diagnostic and monitoring application, has included support for the Ryzen 8000 series, notably in the ‘upcoming changes’ log for the latest version of the utility.

“Added early support of various AMD Zen 5 families,” claims HWiNFO.

This essentially means that the developers of this programme are now aware of some of the first IDs for Zen 5 CPUs, or at least a few of them, as noted by VideoCardz. This is a delectable signal that development of AMD’s next-generation silicon is proceeding admirably.

Prepare for Zen 5 versus Meteor or Arrow Lake in this analysis.
Though it still won’t be for a while, we might start seeing Zen 5 chips appear in very early samples a little sooner than we anticipated.

Zen 5 won’t be released until 2024, so that’s still quite a ways off. It was confirmed by AMD a few months ago that these next-generation CPUs will be available the following year, which is yet more indication that Ryzen 8000 development is going well.

At this point, the only thing we know about Zen 5 is that AMD has claimed it will feature AI-related enhancements, albeit Team Red was ambiguous about what that entails. While AMD has purposefully avoided employing AI with its upscaling technology for Radeon GPUs (FSR), the rumour mill asserts that this position may change in the future and that the company may be prepared to embrace machine learning in a much bigger scale down the road with both GPUs and CPUs, potentially. We’ll see.

The release notes for this version of HWiNFO also mention Intel’s Meteor Lake, which is the generation that will come after the upcoming next-gen Raptor Lake and brings “improved support” for these chips that are anticipated to launch in 2023.

Once more, this is a helpful indication that things are progressing smoothly with the Intel silicon that will probably compete with Zen 5. (Unless Zen 5 launches later in 2024 and Intel is able to produce Arrow Lake, the next generation, which may be a significant advancement for Team Blue just as Meteor Lake will be in bringing about 7nm.)
