Colaboratory, Google’s Python-writing code system, is getting a new payment method. The platform, which is also known as Colab, allows users to develop and run Python code directly from their browsers. It is offered to a variety of users, including students, data scientists, and AI researchers.
The company bragged that no configuration was required and that consumers had unrestricted access to GPUs.
Colab by Google PayG
Chris Perry, the Colab product lead, writes in a release on the TensorFlow blog that Colab’s free tier “stays in its current shape.” The distinction is that customers will now be able to purchase ‘compute units,’ with prices starting at $9.99 for 100 and $49.99 for 500. (offering no bulk-buy discount).
Paying users would have more access to premium GPUs, which are “usually NVIDIA V100 or A100 Tensor Core,” as part of the rollout. Standard GPUs, on the other hand, are “usually NVIDIA T4 Tensor Core” and are accessible to both free users and customers who pay.
Because Google claims that the assignment of the chip type is not guaranteed, we state “usually.” They allocate resources based on a variety of parameters, including availability and your paid balance. It’s important to keep in mind that premium GPUs will cost more because they will use up your “compute units” more quickly than basic GPUs.
