Zoom Is About To Become Much More Functional And Potent

In order to expand some services and make some current ones simpler to use, Zoom is getting a tonne of new features that should, in theory, promote better communication.

Zoom One, the business’s service platform that combines “a range of [enterprise] technologies] into one package,” will receive the majority of the new capabilities.

There will be a new category for sign language interpretation as of Zoom Meetings. Multiple attendees in a meeting may be chosen by the host to communicate via a sign language interpreter for those who require it. People can then choose which interpreter(s) they want to see.

    New tools from Zoom One
Now that Zoom is compatible with Apple CarPlay, users may use CallKit controls to join meetings while driving or view their daily calendar. However, we strongly advise waiting until you’re parked before reviewing your itinerary.

Through an enlarged Asset Library, Zoom Phone will offer additional options to handle audio files in connection with phone calls. According to Zoom, this is a central location where hosts can upload and distribute audio recordings, “including greetings, music on hold, [and] instructions.” By assigning numbers to external teams or third-party systems, group administrators can set up an emergency call system. Additionally, they can activate the brand-new Survivability tool(opens in new tab) to supply fundamental phone functionality throughout a disruption.

Zoom Whiteboard Plus is Zoom One’s last significant update. Participants can communicate ideas by drawing on a digital whiteboard using the tool’s basic version. Whiteboard Plus offers three additional features: @mentions to tag persons outside of the meeting, Mind Map to create flow charts to improve organisation, and Tables to help a team organise their thoughts.

    Life-quality changes
The smaller modifications emphasise alterations to quality of life. The user interface for Zoom Rooms in particular will be changed. There will be “bigger letters, brighter colours, and a better layout” to make it easier to read specific elements, such the meeting calendar. The layout of the displays in a Rooms meeting will be improved so that notifications and the in-meeting chat window don’t obscure the view.

Workspace Reservation, which was previously available only on the desktop software, will soon be available on iOS and Android phones and tablets. You can reserve on-site work resources and places with this service. All of the original desktop functionality, including user surveys and personalised location suggestions from AI, seem to be available on mobile as well.

Given the timing of the announcement and Zoom’s most recent news, it’s difficult to predict what will be disclosed at the Zoomtopia event. Zoom just deployed a new set of capabilities for the Team Chat tool (opens in new tab).

We should also draw attention to the alarming development of rogue websites targeting Zoom users in recent times. To stay secure, make sure to read TechRadar’s most recent coverage of these malware operations.
