Response From Flipkart When A Client Orders A Laptop But Receives Ghadi Detergent

A Delhi guy claims that during Flipkart’s Big Billion Days Sale, he ordered a laptop but instead received packs of Ghadi detergent.

Yashaswi Sharma claimed in a now-viral LinkedIn post that he ordered a laptop for his father during Flipkart’s Big Billion Days Sale but received detergent bars in exchange. Flipkart recognised the error and initiated “measures against the errant party” in addition to refunding the order.

For pricey commodities like mobile phones and computers, many e-commerce sites like Amazon and Flipkart provide “open-box” delivery. According to this technique, buyers first open the package in front of the delivery person to verify the contents, and they only share an OTP once they are certain the delivered item is free of harm.

Sharma claims that neither the delivery partner nor his father made him aware of the open-box delivery system. According to the IIM graduate’s LinkedIn post, “He understood OTP was to be given upon receiving the delivery — as is customary for prepaid deliveries — thus he gave it when the box was delivered.”

The senior Mr. Sharma was astonished to see Ghadi detergent bars inside the Flipkart shipment when he opened it. “I have CCTV evidence of the delivery boy entering and exiting without checking the box. The unwrapping then revealed there was no laptop inside, Sharma stated. He also uploaded a picture of the detergent bars inside the box.

Even though, Flipkart’s customer support team originally informed him that a refund would not be possible because his father had shared the OTP without first examining the laptop.

Sharma’s relative later made a police report, even though he had promised to go to the consumer forum if Flipkart could not fix the problem. The Delhi man claimed to have spoken with the delivery agent, who denied knowing about the open-box delivery technique himself.

“As a company that prioritises its customers, Flipkart has a zero-tolerance policy for any actions that jeopardise client confidence. For our clients, providing the finest online purchasing experience is of the utmost importance “In a statement, the e-commerce company added.

“The consumer gave the delivery agent the OTP in this particular instance, which had an Open Box Delivery option, without ever opening the box. After the incident’s specifics were confirmed, our customer service team started the reimbursement process, which would take 3–4 working days to complete. We’ve located the problem and are taking action against the offending party, “the business added.

Sharma reported yesterday that Flipkart had gotten in touch with him and had given him a refund for the laptop. The Flipkart team got in touch with him to let him know that the refund had been handled, even though he hadn’t yet seen it.

Opinions on his post on LinkedIn are split. While many blamed Flipkart directly, others thought that customers also had some of the fault for failing to inspect the items upon delivery.

“Flipkart is getting criticism. What went wrong with them here? To stop these frauds, they’ve implemented the idea of open box delivery, according to one commenter.

These types of online scams frequently occur. A man apparently ordered a drone camera from an online store recently in Bihar but instead got a sack of potatoes.
