iPhone 15 Ultra: What Is Currently Known

This year, Apple iPhone 15 launched a new product and a new naming convention to the iPhone 14 lineup with the iPhone 14 Plus, causing a seismic shift in the iPhone industry.

The 14 Plus also shown that Apple wasn’t beyond changing its product titles for better clarity. Originally thought to be the ‘iPhone 14 Max,’ it was created to match the large iPhone 14 Pro Max with a simpler CPU, display, and camera system.

According to rumours, the corporation will upgrade the top iPhone model for the upcoming year in a similar manner. It’s beginning to seem like we’ll be introduced to a “iPhone 15 Ultra,” slated to sit above the iPhone 15 Pro, rather than the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The name does not deviate from Apple’s usual style. The Apple Watch Ultra, which is crammed to the gills with functionality, was recently released by the firm.

We think the idea of an Apple iPhone 15 Ultra makes reasonable, and separating itself from the Pro in name will let Apple better justify whatever changes it decides to make to its two most powerful iPhones in 2023. Like the existing iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, the 15 Ultra is probably going to feature more than simply a bigger screen and battery.

Estimated release dates for the iPhone 15 Ultra
Events related to Apple typically take place during the first or second week of September. On a Tuesday or Wednesday, the corporation loves to make an announcement, and on that same Friday, pre-sales begin. The next Friday, on average, the phone is delivered to shops.

Three of the four iPhone 14 models went on sale almost a week later, on September 16, while the iPhone 14 Plus won’t be available until October 7. The iPhone 14 event took place on September 7 (admittedly, sooner than anticipated).

Since both September 5 and September 12 are Tuesdays in 2023, those are the most likely event dates, however September 6 and 13 are still a possibility. As early as September 15, the phone might be available in retailers.

Price rumours for the iPhone 15 Ultra
Early pricing information on the iPhone 15 Ultra has leaked, and this is significant. Apple might charge $1,199 to launch the Ultra phone. The phone would therefore be priced similarly to Samsung’s current “Ultra” model, the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The price of said phone is $1,199.99, £1,149, or AU$1,849.

The current iPhone 14 Pro Max costs $1,099, £1,199, or AU$1,899, which is a price increase over the previous model outside of the US market. We believe it’s probable that Apple may increase prices by $100 in the US and by a similar amount internationally when it transitions from “Pro Max” to “Ultra.”

Hopefully, there will be more incentives to buy with that price hike. The current iPhone 14 Pro Max only differs from the standard 14 Pro in terms of a larger screen and battery. That’s a significant bonus for $100, but if Apple wants to raise the price even further, it must provide more hardware and functionality.

In other words, with 256GB of storage, we anticipate the iPhone 15 Ultra will cost around the same as the iPhone 14 Pro Max at the moment.

Although there have been numerous speculations regarding the anticipated iPhone 15 dating back to before the release of the iPhone 14 series, the existence of a more expensive Apple iPhone 15 Ultra has only lately come to light. The first time we heard of this new potential moniker was when Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggested that an Ultra would be coming shortly after the debut of the 14 line.

Later, we received additional evidence from other iPhone 15 leaks, and one of them speculated that the iPhone 15 Ultra would have a better camera setup than its iPhone 15 Pro brother in addition to having a larger screen and battery.

The leaker said that Apple was testing a highly anticipated 8K video recording function for its new iPhone but was unsure if this feature would be coming to the iPhone 15 Pro or just the more expensive iPhone 15 Ultra. This information came across as quite ambiguous. This sparked rumours that the Ultra phone’s camera would surpass that of the Pro.

The addition of a periscope-style telephoto zoom lens puts Samsung’s Galaxy S22 Ultra one step ahead of the Galaxy S22 Plus and base Galaxy S22 models. According to leaks, Apple may also utilise a periscope zoom on its larger Ultra handset, and the larger phone’s size requirements for such a lens make more sense.
