The GoPro Hero 11 Black and Hero 11 Black Mini are two of the new action camera models that GoPro has released for 2022. The cameras share a single 10-bit sensor, which has an 8:7 aspect ratio and a 27MP resolution. This allows you to crop 9:16-inch video for TikTok, 1:1-inch clips for Instagram, and 16:9-inch clips for YouTube without significantly losing detail from a single snap.
While the GoPro Hero 11 Black Mini is somewhat of a follow-up to the Hero 10 Black Bones(opens in new tab) with less of a focus on drones, the GoPro Hero 11 Black Black live launch(opens in new tab) showed us an almost identical look to last year’s outstanding Hero 10 Black(opens in new tab). Additionally, they come with GoPro’s Enduro battery technology(opens in new tab) and a streamlined software interface.
Screens and mounts are where the two cameras’ main distinctions lie. The front and rear screens are removed from the Hero 11 Black mini, and its Enduro battery is integrated. But the small isn’t entirely a compromise; there is an additional set of mounting legs that wrap around the back of the camera.
Focusing on the new sensor for the Hero 11 Black family, it has a 1/1.9-inch size and a 27MP resolution, which is an improvement over its 23MP predecessor. GoPro claims enhanced stabilisation and a new HyperView digital lens for a perspective that is even more immersive than what previous GoPro models could deliver. It can record video at up to 5.3K 60fps and is the first action camera with 10-bit colour.
The cameras also feature Hypersmooth 5.0, the most recent iteration of GoPro’s renowned outstanding stabilisation. On the Hero 11 Black, this results in 360 Horizon Lock at up to 5.3k resolution (30fps). While there is a lot of new content here, there is also a lot of recognisable flair, with the Hero 10 Black’s design and screen layout making a comeback. Thus, from the Media Mod to the Max Lens Mod, all previous GoPro Mods are compatible with the Hero 11 Black.
