Hyderabad: A Swiggy user’s statement when placing an order for food has stirred some debate on social media, prompting people to wonder if food has a religion.
In a startling instance, a Swiggy user from Hyderabad requested that his order not be delivered by a Muslim delivery person.
Shaik Salauddin, the chairman of Telangana State Taxi and Drivers JAC, released a screen capture of the customer’s instruction after the incident and asked Swiggy to take a stance against it.
Please take a stance against such a prejudiced request, Swiggy. We (delivery personnel) are here to deliver food to everyone, whether they are Sikh, Muslim, Hindu, or Christian. He tweeted, “Mazhab Nahi Sikhata Aapas Mein Bair Rakhna (sp)”.
To date, Swiggy has not reacted to the trending tweet.
A Muslim delivery person had provided food for a Swiggy user in the city, but he refused it in another occurrence. The man insisted that he had noted, “Very little spicy,” in the delivery instructions. Please choose a Hindu delivery person as well. On this, all ratings will be determined.
