A few days ago, AMD unveiled the Ryzen 7000 line of processors. The Ryzen 9 7950X, Ryzen 9 7900X, Ryzen 7 7700X, and Ryzen 7 7600X CPUs will go on sale on September 27 and are expected to provide astounding performance improvements over their predecessors. It turns out that by presenting its 13th generation “Raptor Lake” chips on the same day at the Intel Innovation Event, Intel is purportedly aiming to slow AMD’s momentum.
On September 27, Intel will introduce the Raptor Lake Core i9-13900K, Core i7-13700K, and Core i5-13600K CPUs, according to a Go to Market (GTM) roadmap that was leaked by @wnxod (September 28 for Taiwan). Preorders for the Core i9-13900K are reportedly set to open on the same day as those for the Core i7-13700K and Core i5-13600K, but on October 13 for the Core i9-13900K. On October 20, all three SKUs will be available for purchase.
The rumoured Raptor Lake chip release date will put Intel’s CPUs nearly a month behind AMD’s. The competition between Raptor Lake and Zen 4 appears strong based on the most recent Geekbench benchmark leaks. Therefore, it would be advisable to postpone purchasing AMD Zen 4 CPUs until we know how they compare to Intel’s 13th generation chips.
