The Legion Y70 Is Yet Another “Flagship killer” That Lenovo Has Released.

The Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1-based Legion Y70 from Lenovo is a smartphone designed for gamers. The Lenovo Legion Y70 also features a 5,100 Mah battery with 68 W rapid charging, a 50 MP triple rear camera array, and a 144 Hz OLED display.

he Legion Y70, Lenovo’s newest gaming smartphone, was unveiled. Even though the Legion Y70 has a mid-range price, it is theoretically a flagship smartphone. Additionally, even though Lenovo advertises the Legion Y70 as a gaming smartphone, it lacks features that rivals offer, such shoulder buttons. The 10-layer cooling system, which has a surface area of 5,047 mm2, still has the biggest vapor chamber of any smartphone.

Unsurprisingly, Qualcomm’s flagship smartphone CPU, the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1, LPDDR5 RAM, and UFS 3.1 flash storage are all included in the Legion Y70’s setup by Lenovo. The Legion Y70 also features a 6.67-inch OLED display with a 144 Hz refresh rate and a 1080p resolution. The huge display also features a variable refresh rate that lowers as low as 48 Hz when necessary, a 1,500 Hz touch sampling rate, and a 1,000-nit peak brightness. The Legion Y70 obviously lacks a contemporary LTPO backplane, which would have allowed it to limit its display refresh rate to 1 Hz.

With the exception of the camera housing, Lenovo was able to squeeze the 5,100 mAh battery for the Legion Y70 within a 7.99 mm chassis. Despite not supporting wireless charging, the smartphone can be recharged at 68 W using USB Type-C. Lenovo’s devices also come with a 16 MP front-facing camera, a 50 MP primary camera, a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 2 MP depth camera on the back. For reference, optical image stabilization is only supported by the 50 MP primary camera (OIS).

In China, Lenovo has already begun selling the Legion Y70, which features 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage for at least CNY 2,970 (about US$438). For CNY 3,370 (about US$497) and CNY 4,270 (about US$629), respectively, there are models with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, as well as 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. With Android 12, all memory configurations come in three different colour options. Sadly, Lenovo hasn’t yet said whether it would market the Legion Y70 outside of China.
