Motorola Global and its India division have begun to tease the release of the “next Edge” phone. Motorola Global has confirmed a launch date of September 8, but Motorola India is still keeping its cards close to its breast. None of them have revealed the product’s name, but the launch of the Moto Edge 30 Ultra is almost certainly imminent. It is anticipated to be a Motorola X30 Pro with a new name.
The next Moto Edge series phone will have Flipkart as one of the retail partners, similar to existing Motorola phones. At the time of writing, the dedicated product listing is active on the online store, and we anticipate that further information will appear soon. Meanwhile, Motorola’s international Twitter account is making many launch-related hints on September 8. It’s also possible that the Moto S30 Pro may get a new name.
MOTO EDGE 30 ULTRA EXPECTED SPECS
As previously reported, the Edge 30 Ultra is anticipated to be a renamed international version of the Chinese X30 Pro. Since the Edge 30 Pro (review) was the X30’s debut name, it is very likely that this will also happen this time.
The X30 Pro’s main selling point is that it is the first commercial smartphone in the world to launch with a massive 200MP camera. In this phone, Motorola is utilising a Samsung ISOCELL HP1 200MP sensor, which can bin its pixels 16-to-one to produce images with a resolution of 12.5MP. Behind an optically stabilised lens with an f/1.95 aperture is a 1/1.22-inch sensor.
A second 50MP sensor hidden behind an ultrawide lens and a 12MP telephoto lens for up to 2x optical zoom joins the 200MP primary sensor. You get a 60MP selfie camera on the front.
The remaining specifications include a 4.610mAh battery with 125W fast wired and 50W wireless charging, a 6.67-inch 10-bit 1080p IPS LCD display with a quick 144Hz refresh rate, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor coupled with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage, and Android 12 based MyUI 4.0 software.
