    Pricing and availability

    Design

The T7 Shield obviously has a more tough appearance despite the fact that the standard T7 and T7 Touch have a comparable design. The drive’s exterior mainly consists of a rubber jacket that cannot be removed, shielding an interior metal enclosure. The jacket provides enough protection and is one of the main factors in the drive’s rating to withstand drops of up to three metres.

Additionally, the jacket offers good grip, which is particularly helpful in some circumstances. The jacket has some logos, but that’s about it. The drive is available in three colors—Black, Blue, and Beige—and the only thing that alters is the jacket’s shade. The rubber used to make the jacket makes It rejects fingerprints and does not pick up any nicks or scrapes.

The USB Type-C port and a Drive status LED are located on the inside of the metal container on one side. There is a lot of regulatory information on the opposite side. Any USB Type-C cable can be used to connect to the drive, but for the fastest performance, I would suggest using the cables that come with the drive.

Both a Windows laptop and a Windows desktop computer with USB 3.2 Gen 2 connections were used to test the drive. For read operations, we saw rates between 940 and 980 MB/s, while for write operations, we saw speeds between 950 and 990 MB/s. The pace of transfers in the real world can vary depending on the programme, the type of file, and the port’s physical limitations.

I received roughly 700MB/s in read speeds and 570MB/s in write rates when sending a 7GB.mp4 file. The read and write speeds may be slower when sending smaller files, such photos. Although there are other system limitations impacting the speed, this is not truly a drive limitation.

    Conclusion

    Samsung T7

For anyone looking for a high-end, quick, and secure portable storage option, Samsung’s T7 was already an easy recommendation. Simple durability and a tough design are all that the T7 Shield adds to it. The T7 Shield is a fantastic option for anyone who are travelling, conducting fieldwork outside, or who are videographers or photographers and need a reliable portable drive.

The standard T7 SSD is still a great option for people who still want the performance of the T7 drive but don’t care about the robust exterior.
