A year after the release of the Watch 4, Samsung has finally revealed the Galaxy Watch 5, its most recent premium wristwatch, which made its debut at the company’s Galaxy Unpacked event in late 2022.
This wearable, which was introduced simultaneously with the pricey Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, improves on its predecessor with improved health information and a more upscale design that should better protect the watch.
Stay tuned for when we can tell you whether the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 is poised to join the annals of the greatest smartwatches you can purchase. We’ve shared our hands-on: Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 review, so stay tuned.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 price and availability
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 release date is confirmed (both digitally and physically) for August 26 following its unveiling on August 10 following Unpacked. Pre-orders are open now and will continue through that date.
It’s a little confusing in terms of price because there are several distinct setups. The watch is available in 40mm and 44mm versions, with or without cellular connectivity. For a complete breakdown, check the table below.
Design and display of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 doesn’t really alter significantly from its predecessor in terms of style. To compare, look at these two images:
So, the body and the band have a similar appearance, but appearances aren’t everything. Samsung claims that this watch is 60% more scratch resistant than its predecessor since it is made of a harder material and has a sapphire crystal in the screen.
The screen and battery size are the key distinctions between the two designs, which are available in 40mm and 44mm, respectively, with the latter obviously having a larger screen.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 battery
With a 15% greater battery than the Galaxy Watch 4, the Galaxy Watch 5 boasts a bigger battery than its predecessor. It remains to be seen whether this will result in greater battery life or whether the internal spec updates will cause it to consume more power. We’re looking forward to testing this thoroughly.
However, the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro has a massive 590mAh battery inside, so you should check that one out if you’re looking for a device that can last for several days without charging.
You can use a USB cable to connect the device’s proprietary magnetic pin charger to charge it.
Details and characteristics of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5
The biggest gain over its predecessor in terms of health is that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 has a better sleep track record.
The sleep tracking features of Samsung’s watch have been enhanced, and the gadget will now give you advice on how to get a better night’s sleep. The watch will also assign you a sleep style so that you can better understand how you function. This includes a sleep schedule for the entire month.
There have been advancements in all areas of health knowledge. Samsung’s sophisticated body temperature monitoring caught us off guard a little. Although we’re not entirely sure why, it indicates that the Watch 5 will be able to monitor body temperature intelligently, even when the outside temperature changes. However, these features won’t be available for use for a few months, probably due to some sort of medical verification.
Body mass index and body composition monitoring are intriguing Watch 4 features that have returned. There are also, of course, a variety of fitness tracking modes for activities like jogging, walking, and cycling.
The wearable is powered by Google’s Watch OS 3, which was created in partnership with Samsung and features apps from both businesses (such as the Google and Samsung Play Store).
