The Forthcoming LG OLED TV Makes Noise Without Speakers, The Company Claims.

During the K-Display 2022(opens in new tab) event in Seoul, South Korea, LG unveiled their brand-new 97-inch OLED.EX TV. It takes an unusual approach to audio on OLED screens.

The new LG Film CSO (opens in new tab) (Cinematic Sound OLED) technology, which enables the display to vibrate and emit sounds without the need for additional speakers, is available on the OLED.EX TV. The business says that a 5.1 channel sound system that is integrated into the display may instead produce “a theatrical level of immersion.” A typical 5.1 system consists of a centre speaker surrounded by four other speakers, plus a subwoofer for bass.

    Integrated audio
The sound system configuration for the OLED.EX TV and Film CSO are both unknowns. On the Sony A80K TV, it does, however, bring to mind the Acoustic Surface Audio Plus system from Sony. Since there isn’t much information available about Film CSO, we can only speculate as to how similar LG’s feature will be, but we can look at Sony to get a general idea.

There are four front-facing speakers, two actuators, and tweeters at the back of Sony TVs with Acoustic Surface Audio Plus for immersive sound. The actuators themselves gently vibrate the screen to emit sound and make sure audio and pictures are in sync. An amplifier can even be added to Audio Plus to make the display the primary speaker.

We contacted LG and requested further details about Film CSO. If there are no actuators, we specifically want to know how the sound system avoids interfering with the display. If we hear back, we’ll update this report.

    better and more vibrant
The OLED.EX is expected to feature amazing visual fidelity in addition to the audio system.

It isn’t actually true what LG says about its 97-inch display being the “largest OLED TV panel ever produced.” The 97-inch G2 OLED was introduced earlier this year; thus the business has previously accomplished this feat. Perhaps a more appropriate statement would be that LG introduced the largest OLED TV with OLED.EX technology. Philips is developing further TVs with this feature, although smaller ones that are 48 inches and 77 inches.

LG originally introduced OLED EX technology in December 2021, stating it could increase OLED brightness by 30%. Deuterium, commonly known as heavy hydrogen or an isotope of hydrogen with an extra neutron, is responsible for this phenomenon. Without going into too much technical depth, this particular atomic structure enables brighter panels.

Additionally, LG asserts that its TV can provide more precise details and realistic colours because of its “custom algorithm-based EX Technology.” We contacted LG once more to ask what the phrase meant. If we hear back, we’ll update this report.

    Transparent TV

     LG OLED TV

LG showcased more of their transparent OLED screens, which were originally spotted in December 2021, at the K-DIsplay 2022 event (opens in new tab).

We’ve already seen how they would seem in a retail environment, but we also got a sneak peek at how they may function in an office. Transparent OLED Solution for Conference Room, also referred to as the E-Crystal and a new model from LG, was unveiled.

The E-Crystal is a glass wall with OLED screens that may be used as a monitor to show charts (opens in new tab). It is intended to free up space in conference rooms that many monitors might typically occupy. All of LG’s Transparent OLED displays have uncertain release dates and prices. We’ll eagerly await more information.

Samsung recently had its Unpacked 2022 event when the tech giant unveiled the new Galaxy Fold 3 and the Watch 5 Pro, which are both flexible but not see-through displays.
