The recently released Pixel 6a from American tech giant Google has already received its first software update, even though it doesn’t add any new functionality to the smartphone.
The new update, according to GSM Arena, simply raises the smartphone’s Android security patch level to June 2022.
Users would have liked to see Google release the July 2022 fix for the Pixel 6a, especially in light of the fact that Samsung has already started distributing the August 2022 patch.
Google may decide to forego the July security patch and instead release the August security update for the Pixel 6a soon as August isn’t far off.
However, the Pixel 6a software upgrade is being released in stages, so it will be at least a few weeks before all devices get it.
Although the Green Google Pixel 6a may not be accessible everywhere, it is available in White and Black.
The Google Pixel 6a is equipped with both Google’s Titan M2 security co-processor and the company’s 5nm Tensor chip.
It comes pre-installed with Android 12 and includes 6GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage.
There is no other model of smartphone with more storage, and there is no microSD card slot.
The Pixel 6a’s 6.1-inch FullHD+ 60Hz OLED display is covered in Gorilla Glass 3 for durability.
It sports an 8MP selfie camera punch hole in the center and a fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication underneath.
Similar to the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, the back of the phone has a horizontal bar that houses a 12.2MP main camera and a 12MP ultrawide camera that are connected by an LED flash.
The Google Pixel 6a’s other standout features, according to GSM Arena, are an IP67 rating, dual speakers, and 5G connection.
A 4,410 mAh battery with 18W charging support powers the entire unit.
