At the height of the pandemic in 2020, Indians had access to only 23 countries. However, Indian passport holders will now be able to visit these 60 countries without a visa. India was placed 87th out of 199 passports in a recently revealed global passport rating report.
The Indian passport has regained some of its strength after the government relaxed the prohibition on overseas travel imposed owing to the Covid outbreak in March of this year. The country was placed 87th out of 199 passports in a newly revealed worldwide passport ranking report.
The Henley Passport Index measures the strength of countries’ diplomatic contacts with one another. The greater a country’s ‘easy of access’ to others, the higher its ranking. The data used to create this index came from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
