Aadhaar Embedded in Every Indian’s Life, 99.9% Adults Use It At Least Once A Month

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has stated in a new pamphlet that Aadhaar is enmeshed in practically every Indian’s life, claiming that “99.9 percent” of individuals in the country have an Aadhaar number and “use it at least once a month.”

The UIDAI pamphlet claims that Aadhaar has become a “lifeline for the impoverished and underprivileged,” citing the organization’s future goal of making Aadhaar more fundamental to citizens’ lives and achieving nearly 100 percent coverage across all age categories. This UIDAI pamphlet, which was distributed throughout the government this month, was obtained by News18.

According to the pamphlet, 80 percent of recipients believe Aadhaar has made services such as PDS, MNREGA, and others more reliable.
Overall Aadhaar coverage is 92.7 percent, with nearly 100 percent coverage among adults, 92.5 percent coverage among children aged 5 to 18, and 25 percent coverage among children under the age of five.

The pamphlet states that one goal is to investigate newer use cases for Aadhaar adoption. It was the first official ID for 8% of Aadhaar holders, and it has accelerated India’s digital economy.
