Soft skills on your resume 93% of employers want

There are various soft skills techniques to enhance your resume when applying for jobs. You can look over the listing to see what the employer values most in terms of experience, and make sure you emphasize that, for instance. Include any noteworthy accomplishments, such as exceeding sales targets. A hyperlink to your LinkedIn profile is also an option.

Your soft skills are one set of skills that career experts advise you to incorporate. Ian Siegel, co-founder and CEO of ZipRecruiter, stated in the company’s most recent study The Job Market Outlook for Grads that “soft skills play a crucial role in their decision about whom they want to recruit,” according to 93 percent of employers.

A wide range of skills are included under soft skills. According to Kristin Kelley, chief marketing officer at CareerBuilder, “I would say, in general, communication is quite high on that list right now considering how individuals are working in many various contexts, hybrid situations.”

Some of the most in-demand soft skills have been listed by ZipRecruiter on its platform. The top skills on that list, along with the number of jobs on the site that specify them as requirements, are listed below.

    Communication skills

Number of jobs listing the skill: 6.1 million

    Customer service

Number of jobs listing the skill: 5.5 million

    Scheduling

Number of jobs listing the skill: 5 million

    Time management skills

Number of jobs listing the skill: 3.6 million

    Project management

Number of jobs listing the skill: 2.8 million

    Analytical thinking

Number of jobs listing the skill: 2.7 million

    Ability to work independently

Number of jobs listing the skill: 2 million

    Flexibility

Number of jobs listing the skill: 1.3 million

As Kelley notes, the new remote and hybrid work arrangements that heavily rely on technology are partly to blame for the significance of communication. She gives the example of “how you respond to someone who sends you an email.” Within 24 hours, formally respond to them.

The current diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives of numerous companies have significantly increased the relevance of communication.

According to Georgene Huang, co-founder and CEO of Fairyhoods, “to be a diverse and inclusive workplace, you have to deal with all various kinds of individuals, which means you have to be able to effectively interact with all different kinds of people.”

No matter what kind of function you have, you can’t be productive when it comes to scheduling and time management, according to her.

The last aspect of flexibility is Kelley’s statement that “people really have to be able to turn left, turn right on a dime, join the Zoom, and be able to manage their own instant messages coming in.” Since the epidemic and as so many individuals have continued to work from home, there is an element of ease with multitasking and being able to switch what you’re doing at a moment’s notice.

Include your soft talents by providing specific examples of how you’ve applied them, either in the bullet points under your job descriptions or the introduction of your resume.
